Street sweeping underway in Newmarket

The Town of Newmarket is requesting residents to avoid parking on the street during the day over the next few weeks to make way for sweeping crews

Newmarket is getting some spring cleaning done, with the town starting street sweeping today.

The municipality will have cleaners throughout town over the next three to four weeks to sweep away debris left on streets over the winter.

The town is asking residents to avoid parking on the street from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. to ensure the sweeper has a clear path to work.

“We thank residents in advance for their patience as the sweeping crews make their way throughout town,” the municipality said in a news release.

The sweeping will start in the south end of town before making its way north.

The municipality said additional sweeping may occur during the summer as required.
