Spring is in the air and that means it's time for spring cleaning.

The town has a number of spring-cleaning activities to help keep the town fresh and clean.

YARD WASTE PICKUP:

Yard waste collection resumes and runs every other week until the end of November.

There is no limit to the amount of yard waste placed at the curb. Yard waste is to be placed in labelled containers or kraft paper bags. Yard waste stickers are available through the town at no charge.

Tree and shrub clippings should be bundled and tied with string. Tree stumps, grass clippings, dirt and sod will not be collected curbside.

For more information, visit georgina.ca/WasteandRecycling.

STREET SWEEPING:

The annual road-cleaning service removes winter sand from town roads.

Residents are encouraged to sweep sand from driveways or sidewalks on to the edge of the road to be removed by the street sweeper in April, weather permitting. And residents are asked to avoid parking on town streets when sweepers are working in the area.

PITCH-IN WEEK:

April 17 to 23 is national Pitch-In Week. Residents can participate by cleaning up litter in the community. Gloves and bags can be picked up at the Civic Centre, 26557 Civic Centre Rd., or any Georgina Public Library branch, 90 Wexford Dr., Keswick, 76 Pete's Ln., Pefferlaw, and 5279 Black River Rd., Sutton.

Once complete, contact Service Georgina, 905-476-4301 x3001 or info@georgina.ca for collection.

CURBSIDE GIVEAWAY DAYS:

Clear the clutter from your home and put unwanted items at the curb for free on select Curbside Giveaway Days. The first is April 29, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and runs monthly until October.

Any unclaimed items are to be removed by 5 p.m.

E-WASTE RECYCLING AND SWAP AND SELL:

Dispose of any unwanted electronics at the town’s e-waste event May 13, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Georgina Ice Palace, 90 Wexford Dr., Keswick.

Accepted items include: computers, printers, phones, TVs, radios, speakers, cameras, drones, hard drives and connecting cables and wires.

Unaccepted items include IT equipment weighing more than 250 kilograms, appliances, power tools, textiles, toys and e-vehicles.

The annual Swap and Sell is also taking place at the same time.
