York Regional Police is looking for two suspects after an alleged armed kidnapping attempt outside a Vaughan restaurant.

On March 3, at about 9:50 p.m., a man and woman left a restaurant at a plaza near Weston Road and Crestmount Boulevard. As they returned to their vehicle in the parking lot, they were allegedly confronted by two men armed with guns who threatened them and threw them to the ground. The suspects allegedly hit the man with a gun and threatened the woman at gunpoint, police said.

The suspects then allegedly ordered the man and woman to go with them, but were interrupted by employees and patrons who exited the restaurant to check on the commotion. The suspects then allegedly fled in a black Mercedes-Benz sedan, last seen travelling south on Weston Road, police said.

The man and woman, both 32, sustained minor physical injuries during the assault, police said.

Investigators believe it was a targeted attack.

The two suspects are described by police as men who were dressed all in black and wearing masks.

Investigators are asking anyone who has dashcam or other video recordings of the suspects and their vehicle, any witnesses who haven’t spoken to police and anyone with information to contact the York Regional Police No. 4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7441, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or leave an anonymous tip online at www.1800222tips.com.
