East Gwillimbury hosting 5 workshops on International Women's Day on March 8

East Gwillimbury is hosting several presentations and workshops to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8. The Workshops by Women Schedule includes five separate presentations.

At 1:30 p.m., "Spring Solution: Grooming Your Gardens" will be held at the East Gwillimbury Sports Complex. You can join experts from East Gwillimbury’s parks team to learn about getting your garden ready for summer. During the workshop, they'll discuss native plants, butterfly gardens and design techniques and answer any questions you may have. Attendees will receive a free potted plant donated by the Town of East Gwillimbury.

"Equity, Diversity and Inclusion: The Power in Progress" will be held online from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. This workshop will provide an overview of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and why embracing EDI helps to build stronger, more connected communities.

"Car Care: An Introduction to Vehicle Maintenance" will held at the East Gwillimbury Sports Complex from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sheena from Sheena’s Auto Service will lead this workshop to help people learn more about vehicle maintenance in a hands-on safe space. The workshop is for people 15 years and older

"Where I’m Headed: Postcard Reflection Process" is being hosted by the Women's Support Network at the East Gwillimbury Sports Complex from 6 to 7:30 p.m. In this workshop, participants will create their own postcards, which they can keep for themselves. This workshop offers a space for participants to reflect on where they’ve been, the progress they’ve made and where they want to go on their journey. The workshop is for people ages 11 to 17.

"Always Equipped: An Introduction to Self-Defense" will be hosted by Impact Martial Arts at the East Gwillimbury Sports Complex from 7:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Join Impact Martial Arts to learn real-world self-defence skills with our expert team. They will offer a safe and welcoming space for women to learn how to defend themselves using their voice, body language and physical skills to ward off attackers and distance themselves from any potential danger. You will leave this class with a new-found sense of confidence and preparedness. The class is for people 12 years and older.
