House under construction in Woodbridge catches fire overnight

Commuters who use Hwy. 7 between New Huntington Road and Hwy. 50 advised to find alternate routes

A house under construction in Vaughan caught fire overnight, York Regional Police Duty Insp. Peter Cheung said.

He had little information about the incident but said fire broke out in the house in the area of Hwy. 7 and New Huntington Road in Woodbridge at about 4:30 a.m. on March 27.

There were no injuries, Cheung said.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, he said at 7 a.m.

Hwy. 7 between New Huntington Road and Hwy. 50 was closed at the time of the fire.

The westbound lanes have since reopened but the eastbound lanes remain closed.

Commuters are advised to find alternate routes.
