The city’s new zoning bylaw (Bylaw 001-2021) has now come into effect. This bylaw replaces Bylaw 1-88 and affects all properties within the City of Vaughan with the exception of lands in the vicinity of Yonge St. and Steeles Avenue. The City of Vaughan was previously under order by the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) on Dec. 28, 2022, to replaces the former zoning bylaw.

Going forward, this bylaw controls the required building heights, setbacks, lot sizes, lot dimensions and parking requirements; the types of buildings allowed and how they can be used; and where buildings and other structures can be located.

The new zoning bylaw will be implemented into Vaughan’s new Official Plan which is currently under review.
