Two things are certain in life: death and taxes. And the latter has come to roost.

Vaughan property owners can soon expect their property tax bills in their mailbox. The City of Vaughan’s interim residential and non-residential tax bills have been issued.

Payment dates are as follows:

First instalment -- Wednesday, March 29
Second instalment -- Thursday, April 27
Third instalment -- Monday, May 29

The City of Vaughan is asking if you do not receive your tax bill in the mail, to contact them immediately by phone at 905-832-2281 or by email at service@vaughan.ca. Failure to receive a tax bill does not exempt residents from paying property taxes and the city is warning late penalties will then be added.

The final property tax bills for residential and non-residential property taxes will be mailed out in June. The anticipated dates for final payment due dates for all properties are the following:

First instalment -- late July
Second instalment -- late August
Third instalment -- late September

With the City of Vaughan going cashless at their facilities, they have set up several methods for people to pay.

The City of Vaughan is also offering tax relief programs. Citizens can apply for the Elderly Home-Owners Tax Assistance program -- a tax rebate provided by the City to residents 65 years of age or older who are in receipt of the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) and have owned their home in Vaughan for more than one year. Applications forms for 2023 must be submitted by March 31. Residents can also apply for The Seniors, Low-Income Seniors and Low-Income Disabled Persons Property Tax Deferral program and must be applied for annually by Sept. 30.
