City of Vaughan hosts community safety meetings to address safety concerns

The City of Vaughan will start holding a series of community safety meetings in the incoming months with various stakeholders. These stakeholders include the York Regional Police (YRP), City’s bylaw and Compliance office, the Licensing and Permit Services Team, and city council.

The meetings will take place all over Vaughan and are scheduled for the following dates:

Ward 1 -- Kleinburg

Thursday, Feb. 23 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Cornerstone Community Church

Ward 3
Monday, March 6 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Vellore Village Community Centre -- Cafetorium (1 Villa Royale Ave.)

Ward 1 -- Maple
Thursday, March 9 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Maple Community Centre -- Activity Room (10190 Keele St.)

Ward 2
Tuesday, March 28 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Woodbridge Pool & Memorial Arena -- Community Hall (5020 Highway 7)

Ward 4
Wednesday, April 26 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

North Thornhill Community Centre -- Art Room (300 Pleasant Ridge Ave)

Ward 5
Thursday, May 18 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Dufferin Clark Community Centre -- Activity Room (1441 Clark Ave. W)

City-wide session -- Vaughan City Hall

Thursday, June 15 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

City Hall -- Vaughan Room (2141 Major Mackenzie Dr.)

Mayor Steven Del Duca has made previous public comment in support of reforming Canada’s bail system to keep repeat offenders off the streets.

Vaughan like many municipalities in York Region have been hit with a string of auto thefts and break-ins in the last year.

The City of Vaughan is continuing to work with the YRP in advancing community safety initiatives. Deputy Mayor and local and regional Councillor Linda Jackson was appointed to the YRP Services board for the 2022-2026 Term of Council.
