Town encouraging local love with new Buy More, Get More program

This initiative is offering 25% bonus on Visa cash cards with around 40 businesses across Newmarket participating in it

Just in time for the International Day of Love, The Town of Newmarket is offering a new way to show the local business community a little extra love with the Choose Local: Buy More, Get More program. This program will keep more money in your pocket by providing a 25 per cent bonus on the purchase of Visa cash cards through the Hello Network, valid at approximately 40 participating businesses throughout Newmarket.

“Thank you, Newmarket, for the constant support you have shown for our business community over the past two-plus years through some extremely challenging times,” says Newmarket Mayor John Taylor. “Let’s all continue to collectively Choose Local with this amazing new Buy More, Get More program which not only helps to support our local businesses, it also stretches your dollar 25 per cent further, a perk that I’m sure we can all appreciate right now with the cost of everything around us on the rise.”

How it works:

• Visit newmarket.ca/ChooseLocal and click on 'buy cash cards' to purchase a Visa cash card that can be used at approximately 40 local shops and restaurants. When you purchase the card, you will receive a 25 per cent bonus (up to a $200 maximum purchase). For example, if you purchase a $100 Visa cash card, you will receive a $125 value on the card.
• After purchasing online, you will receive the card in the mail within five to seven days.
• As a gift back to the community and to spread some additional love and joy, the Town will also be distributing one hundred $25 gift cards for local businesses at Town events, Town facilities and via social media over the next month. You could be one of the lucky recipients!

The Choose Local campaign was created during the pandemic to provide additional support to local Newmarket businesses as they faced various challenges and uncertainties throughout COVID-19. As the pandemic stabilizes, it is equally important to continue to Choose Local, love local! The Buy More, Get More program is launching during what is typically considered the ‘off season’ to try to encourage spending during a time of year that is traditionally slow for many businesses.
