Richmond Hill residents are invited to a public town hall meeting on how to prevent break-ins, car theft and burglaries at the city hall on Feb. 11.

The town hall meeting, organized by Ward 6 Councillor Michael Shiu, will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. in Committee Room 2 of the municipal building at 225 East Beaver Creek Rd.

York Regional Police crime prevention officers will speak about how the residents can prevent burglaries and car theft and provide information on the Neighbourhood Watch program.

The Neighbourhood Watch program can help to provide a sense of security by encouraging neighbours to keep an eye on each other's property and reporting suspicious activity, according to the YRP.

The attendees will have an opportunity to ask the officers public safety-related questions at the meeting.

Chinese translation service will be provided.

It is a free event but registration is required. Those who are interested can email their names and addresses to michael.shiu@richmondhill.ca or text to WhatsApp number: 416-553-6869.

Due to limited space and capacity, priority will be given to residents living in Ward 6.
