The cause of a house fire in Aurora just before Christmas was the disposal method of smoking material, according to Central York Fire Services.
At around 3:32 p.m. Dec. 23, CYFS received reports of a fire at the rear of a residence on Davidson Road.
Fire crews encountered smoke and flames coming from a deck at the rear of the house upon arrival, as well as smoke coming from the eaves and roof vents.
Fire crews came up against smoke on the first and second floors of the home, and there were smoke and flames in the attic, a CYFS news release said.
The fire on the outside of the home was quickly extinguished, but fire crews encountered frozen hydrants and equipment, and challenging weather conditions.
Crews located the fire and quickly brought it under control, then remained on the scene to conduct an overhaul and clear smoke from the home.
No residents, bystanders, or firefighters on scene suffered physical injuries.
