Residents -- the ball is in your court on tennis and racquetball in Newmarket.

The town is holding two public information centres to share the latest advancements and gather community feedback on a new tennis facility and clubhouse, and the future of pickleball in Newmarket.

Here’s what you need to know about them.

TENNIS

Stop by in-person to this public meeting to learn more about the new tennis facility and clubhouse.

Last year, the town signed an agreement with Shining Hill developments that will see the amenities built on Bennington Road.

This project is well underway and the town will present the facility renderings to the community as well as gather feedback.

Residents can also visit the engagement project page after the meeting to provide their feedback.

The event, in the council chambers of the municipal offices at 395 Mulock Dr., runs Jan. 30 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A formal presentation will start at 7 p.m.

PICKLEBALL

Stop by this in-person public meeting to see what Newmarket has planned for the sport of pickleball. Residents will have an opportunity to provide their feedback on what they’d like to see for the sport.

Residents can also visit the pickleball engagement project page after the meeting to provide their feedback.

The event, in the council chambers of the municipal offices at 395 Mulock Dr., is Jan. 31 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A formal presentation will start at 7 p.m.

The town currently has 21 tennis courts and six pickleball courts. During the past few years, there has been a significant growth in both sports.

Feedback gathered from both meetings will help the town map out the future of the two sports in town.

A report to council is expected to come to council in March.

Residents who cannot attend the meetings are encouraged to visit the online engagement webpages to provide their input by Feb. 17.

Information from both meetings will be uploaded onto the engagement sites afterwards.
