Alectra Utilities plans to spend another $10M in Vaughan, after spending $12M in 2022

Alectra Utilities has invested $12 million and is planning on spending another $10 million on multi-year projects to rejuvenate and replace underground cables in Vaughan.

The cable injection process avoids other significant costs as well as service disruptions and minimizes impact on the environment. A silicone-based injection is used to fill in weak spots, forces out moisture and hardens cables to prevent further deterioration instead of digging up and replacing underground cables.

For every kilometre (km) of cable injection, Alectra Utilities avoids about 13 tonnes of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Currently, Alectra has injected more than 820 km of underground cable across its service territories, avoiding more than 10,000 tonnes of GHG emissions.
