You can help the town update its water and wastewater comprehensive plan to ensure its sewers, water mains and pumping stations continue to meet current and future demands.

The virtual meeting will be held Feb. 8 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Join the meeting at heynewmarket.ca/wwplan.

Residents’ input will help ensure there is adequate water and wastewater infrastructure in place to support mandated growth in Newmarket.

“The Town of Newmarket is a growing community and we want to make sure our water and wastewater infrastructure will be able to service the needs of our residents and businesses,” Mayor John Taylor said.

“It is also important that we take this opportunity to evaluate our current water and wastewater assets in order to maximize benefits, reduce risk and be able to identify gaps so that we can continue to provide safe and reliable levels of service to the community.”

The plan update will consider all lands designated for development, plus an allowance to accommodate intensification.

It will also identify preferred solutions that will be determined based on engineering requirements, environmental considerations, public input and information gathered during the study, all in accordance with the Environmental Assessment Act and the Master Plan Class Environmental Assessment.
