A small shopping centre in Richmond Hill is looking to shake things up a little in the new year and the public is welcome to chime in.

An expansion of commercial and retail uses have been proposed for the existing plaza located east of Bathurst Street south of Humberland Drive. Meanwhile, the landowner also seeks to reduce the parking rate in the plaza.

Who: Bodrington Commercial Developments Limited

What: A request has been received from Bodrington Commercial Developments Limited to amend the zoning bylaw for the property, seeking to expand the list of commercial and retail uses permitted in the existing commercial plaza and to reduce the parking rate for a shopping centre.

What’s next: A hybrid public meeting is scheduled for Feb. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Richmond Hill council chambers to notify the public and receive comments on the application.

How: Any person may attend the meeting and/or make a written or verbal representation either in support of, or in opposition to the proposed zoning bylaw amendment. No prior registration is required to make an in-person delegation, but is encouraged. Prior registration is required should the public intend to make an electronic delegation by video conference or telephone. Applications to appear as a delegation must be submitted by noon on the date of the meeting by email to clerks@richmondhill.ca or by using the online application form found on Richmondhill.ca.
