King residents have a chance to review and provide input on the draft 2023 budget.

An in-person open house will take place on Jan. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. in council chambers at the municipal centre, 2585 King Rd. in King City. This will give residents a chance to review the budget, provide feedback and ask township staff questions.

“King Township is fiscally responsible and committed to keeping the township portion of the annual municipal tax as low as possible while still maintaining a high level of programs and services,” said Mayor Steve Pellegrini. “The budget contributes to the amazing quality of life we enjoy in King so I encourage people to attend the in-person open house to hear details about the proposed budget and provide feedback.”

The budget book is available at www.speaking.king.ca/2023-budget or www.king.ca/budget. It contains information on the draft 2023 budget council will consider at the Feb. 6 meeting.

The SpeaKing budget page also includes key dates, budget process timeline and important documents.

The municipal budget includes garbage collection, public libraries, road repair, recreation programs, water testing and fire and emergency services.

The operating budget includes yearly expenditures for personnel costs, materials and supplies, contracted services, minor capital, debt charges, reserve transfers and program fees.

The capital budget includes expenditures and financing sources to acquire, construct, maintain and facilitate township capital assets such as, roads, bridges, water distribution and wastewater collection systems, recreational facilities and administrative facilities.
