It’s time to say goodbye to the year 2022 and the City of Richmond Hill invites everyone to do it in style.

The city is hosting First Night, a free family-friendly event, to celebrate New Year’s Eve at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts on Dec. 31 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Featuring an early countdown and live performance, the celebrations welcomes everyone to join in a series of outdoor pre-show activities, including showing off their dance moves in the Glow Lounge, or trying a game of human foosball or hockey in the outdoor arena in the Game Zone.

The public is also invited to take part in “Rockin’ Around the Clock” themed activities and contests and enjoy live entertainment and delicious treats from food vendors.

Just before we bid farewell to the last day of 2022, Canadian pop singer-songwriter Elijah Woods will take the main stage of the theatre and bring a live performance for all ages at 7:30 p.m.

Registration for pre-show activities is not required, but may be required for some contests and crafts.

A ticket is required to attend the feature performance on the main stage. Tickets are complimentary.

The early countdown will start at 8:45 p.m.

Many pre-show activities take place outdoors, so dress for the weather.
