It’s no simple task to plan for the future of a growing city with 200,000 people and it’s not just the job for the elected officials.

The City of Richmond Hill is recruiting new committee members from the public for its accessibility advisory and property standards committees for the 2022-2026 term.

Applications are being accepted until 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 11, 2022. Hard copies of the application are available at Access Richmond Hill.

The accessibility advisory committee, comprised of the mayor, one member of council and 11 citizen members, helps the city’s decision-makers and planners to break down the barriers for people with disabilities in the city.

It provides city council and staff with advice regarding the preparation, implementation and effectiveness of its multi-year accessibility plan each year. More information is available at richmondhill.ca.

Meanwhile, the property standards committee is responsible for the administration and enforcement the city’s property standards bylaw. The committee meeting dates and times are determined by the requirements of the Building Code Act.

The committee consists of three persons to be appointed by council for a three-year term. Each appointment shall be for the term of one, two and three years providing for one vacancy each year.
