The Markham District Veterans Association will be observing Remembrance Day on Saturday, Nov. 5.

A Service of Remembrance will be held in the Upper Hall in Markham Village. The public is invited to arrive by 9:45 a.m. and the service will start at 10 a.m.

Following the service, the Remembrance Day Parade will march up to the Markham Village Veterans Square and Cenotaph for the 11 a.m. ceremony and laying of the wreaths.

There will also be a "march past" during which police, fire, and cadets will honour two of veterans who have both turned 100 in the past year. The parade will return to the Veterans Hall following the ceremony at the Cenotaph.

On Nov. 11, at 10:30 a.m., the annual Remembrance Day ceremony will be held at Flato Markham Theatre. This year will mark the first time the ceremony returns to in person since the COVID-19 pandemic began. All are welcome to attend the event.
