You'll want to avoid parking overnight on streets as the Town of Newmarket has put winter parking regulations into effect as of today, Nov. 1.

Between now and April 15, no vehicles can be parked on any roadway between 2 and 6 a.m. to avoid any conflict with snow clearing.

The regulation applies even when there is no snow on the ground.

The town has previously made targeted efforts to remind drivers of the parking rules coming into effect ahead of time. Anyone who violates the parking restrictions could face fines.

During the pandemic, the municipality started offering off-street, overnight parking lots in the winter via permit.

Residents can go to the online parking portal and get permission to park overnight at the municipal offices, Magna Centre, Ray Twinney Recreation Complex and in downtown Newmarket.

The program runs from Nov. 25 to April 15, according to the town website, and vehicles must be moved by 7 a.m. You can find more information on the town website.
