You can donoate online on this website. Financial donations are used to buy groceries and other items that are desperately needed but are not commonly donated during the drive, such as winter clothing, diapers and formula.

"The best part about the campaign is that 100 per cent of donations go directly back to those in need here in York Region," police said. "Collaborative efforts with our community, along with our generous corporate partners, means we can provide holiday cheer to thousands of people who have registered for assistance through local Salvation Army programs and Victim Services of York Region."

York Regional Police are hosting the official Holiday Heroes launch, in partnership with the Newmarket Soccer Club, at 621 Newpark Blvd. on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Official remarks will take place at 9:45 a.m., with a soccer game between police and coaches taking place immediately afterwards.

There will also be events at various locations throughout the campaign, including Upper Canada Mall Dec. 3 to 4, to collect donations. The dates and locations can be found on the events calendar here.

The Holiday Heroes campaign has been held every year since 2008, gathering monetary donations, new toys, new children's clothing and food. As always, all donations raised in York Region stay in York Region.
