Newmarket will swear in its newly elected council for a new term of office at the Old Town Hall Nov. 15.

At the inaugural meeting, all nine returning members of council will take their oaths of office to start a new four-year term. Council family members and friends will be present, along with community leaders. Dignitaries will also include Honorable Justice Peter Tetley.

The event will also feature the mayor’s inaugural address to outline what is to come in the next term of council.

The new council will feature the same faces, as every member of council ran again and was re-elected or acclaimed. That includes Mayor John Taylor, Deputy Mayor Tom Vegh and councillors Grace Simon, Victor Woodhouse, Jane Twinney, Trevor Morrison, Bob Kwapis, Kelly Broome and Christina Bisanz.

Seating is limited, but there will be overflow seating for the public to watch live from the main floor of the Old Town Hall. Residents can also watch the live stream at newmarket.ca/meetings, with the meeting to be recorded and archived online.

The event starts at 7 p.m.
