Ontario Culture Days gives City of Vaughan its People's Choice Spotlight award

The City of Vaughan has won the People’s Choice for its Sisters in Spirit Day held in the courtyard of Vaughan City Hall.

The event, which took place on Oct. 4, was a partnership between Vaughan and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Valerie King, of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, facilitated the event and spoke of healing, the importance of the day and how to take action to make a more equitable Canada.

The event honoured and remembered missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and gender-diverse people, supported grieving families and offered opportunities to learn more about truth and reconciliation.
