Brian Capitao
NAME: Nick Pinto
OCCUPATION: The most important job I have is being a dedicated father, grandfather and devoted husband and strong community leader.
ADDRESS/WARD: Woodbridge (Ward 2)
POSITION YOU ARE RUNNING FOR: Vaughan Local and Regional Councillor
PREVIOUS POLITICAL EXPERIENCE:
I have had the incredible privilege to serve and advocate for our community and represent you as President of The West Woodbridge Homeowners Association, Inc. for over 20 years. As your community advocate at the Vaughan city hall, I was able to advance key priorities raised by our neighbours, including a new outdoor ice rink at a community centre for community use, halting the development of a 970-megawatt natural gas power generation facility, and more.
WHY HAVE YOU DECIDED TO RUN?
I decided to run for Local and Regional Councillor because I firmly believe Vaughan is now facing challenges that will define the character and quality of life for our residents for generations to come. I believe we need a strong, decisive, and experienced community leader who will empower our residents, and ultimately bring the community together.
HOW WILL YOU EMBRACE AND CHAMPION DIVERSITY?
Our city is the best place to live, work and play for all our residents regardless of their background, regardless of where they’re from. We must ensure no one is left behind.
My vision is to create a loving, united, authentic, inclusive, and powerful city with a common vision and promote and celebrate our diversity.
WHAT ARE YOUR TOP THREE ISSUES?
I’ll focus on improving our neighbourhood safety, creating more affordable housing, and restoring confidence in our local small businesses and entrepreneurs.
IF ELECTED, WHAT DO YOU PLAN TO ACCOMPLISH IN YOUR FIRST 100 DAYS?
I believe everyone -- our children, grandchildren and seniors deserve to have a decent roof over their heads, so it is imperative we find a workable solution. I strongly believe that we all must work together -- federal and provincial government, community leaders and the private sector to address and help build affordable housing.
