York public school board seeking community volunteers for inclusivity committee

The York Region District School Board is seeking community volunteers for the board’s equity and inclusivity advisory committee.
The committee advises and supports the board in fulfilling its commitment to ensuring schools and work places are equitable and inclusive places to learn and work.
There are eight community member positions available.
The inclusivity committee provides advice regarding development and implementation of the board’s inclusivity strategy, policies and procedures in all areas of diversity.
Diversity includes ancestry, culture, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, language, physical and intellectual ability, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation and socio-economic status.
Committee members are required to attend six meetings per year.
Meetings are scheduled for Jan. 19, 2023, March 9, May 18, Oct. 12, Nov. 9 and Dec. 14.
The committee is comprised of up to eight community members, up to 10 community representatives and two school board trustees, as well as various school staff.
The deadline to apply is Nov. 1.
