POSITION YOU ARE RUNNING FOR: Trustee for YCDSB Ward 1

PREVIOUS POLITICAL EXPERIENCE: I have been a member of the York Catholic School Board and worked on a writing team with the Ministry of Education . Was chair of Religion departments as well.

WHY HAVE YOU DECIDED TO RUN?

I decided to run because I have always been concerned for the well-being of every student and their families. These families have the right to choose a trustee that has experience in the educational system and understands the roles and responsibility of every member at the Board office. It is time to ensure that Catholic Education takes precedence over everything else.

HOW WILL YOU EMBRACE AND CHAMPION DIVERSITY?

I have been an advocate for acceptance of all people regardless of colour, race, religion, gender etc. We are all diverse, but we must ensure that our students and families know that we are one in Christ. As St. Augustine said: "God loves each of us as if there were only one of us."

WHAT ARE YOUR TOP THREE ISSUES?

1) Ensure that the Catholic School Doctrines are always taught, respected and implemented in all Catholic schools.

2) Always ensure the maximum safety measures taken for all students within their schools.

3) Revisit the areas within the regions that are having the most concerns with their students and their school.

IF ELECTED, WHAT DO YOU PLAN TO ACCOMPLISH IN YOUR FIRST 100 DAYS?

 In my first 100 days I plan to revisit the major concerns brought forward from different communities and find a way, in collaboration with Senior staff, to rectify this problem.
