When 16 planters were left toppled over in 2021, their soil spread across Newmarket's Main Street and it left plenty of people up in arms at the disrespect.

Not long after someone was charged with the acts.

Now as the summer of 2022 draws to a close some of that anger has returned, after Councillor Bob Kwapis posted an image of further vandalism.

"Be on the lookout," he wrote on Facebook. "Report vandalism in Newmarket. Over the past few weeks, 17 flower planters along Main Street have been vandalized."

In an interview with yorkregion.com he said he was disappointed with the 'senseless acts of vandalism'.

"This wrecks the enjoyment for others," he said. "It unnecessarily costs us money. I posted the photo and it's a very negative reaction of disappointment and outrage."

The acts drew plenty of criticism from residents.

In 2021 a 34-year-old Newmarket man was charged with mischief in relation to the incident.
