This week has been a tough one for policing in the GTA.

First, Toronto police Const. Andrew Hong was gunned down in Mississauga, then on Sept. 14, York Regional Police Const. Travis Gillespie was killed following a head-on collision on Major Mackenzie Drive, in Markham.

A 23-year-old man from Markham has been charged with impaired driving. Read about that here.

York Regional Police said since the crash, there's been a huge outpouring of support from the community.

"We are grateful for the compassion shown to us during this difficult time," Const. Maniva Armstrong wrote in a news release.

In a bid to capture that sentiment, the force has set up books of condolence in each of the five district police stations in York Region, including Markham, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Newmarket, Sutton and at headquarters, in Aurora

The service said the books will all be sent to Gillespie's family. Condolence books are also available for Hong's family.

The stations are at the following addresses:

No. 1 District -- 429 Harry Walker Pkwy. S., Newmarket;

No. 2 District -- 171 Major Mackenzie Dr. W., Richmond Hill;

No. 3 District -- 3527 Baseline Rd., Sutton;

No. 4 District -- 2700 Rutherford Rd., Vaughan;

No. 5 District -- 8700 McCowan Rd., Markham; and

Headquarters -- 47 Don Hillock Dr., Aurora.
