NEWMARKET VOTES: Hoping for a job for the municipal election? Sorry, you're out of luck

If you were looking to get a job helping with Newmarket’s municipal election this fall, you’re out of luck.

The town isn’t hiring any extra staff for the Oct. 24 vote.

“Similar to the 2018 election, voters in the 2022 Newmarket municipal election will be able to vote online from home or other convenient locations (such as the library or the town’s voter assistance centres) using an internet-connected device,” the town’s election team said in an email.
“Building on the success of the 2018 election, which was staffed entirely by town employees, this election will apply the same staffing practice.”

Voters will be able to cast their ballots any time from Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. to Oct. 24 at 8 p.m. using an internet-connect computer, tablet or smartphone.

If you don’t have access to those devices, you can visit a voter assistance centre in the gymnasium at the Magna Centre at 800 Mulock Dr. or Lounge 2 at the Ray Twinney Recreation Complex at 100 Eagle St. W. during voting hours.

Voters with visual or dexterity impairments can download a smartphone app that provides accessibility enhancements. For more information, visit newmarketvotes.ca/en/voters/accessibility.

For more information or assistance with any part of the voting process, call 905-953-5152.

You must be on the voters’ list to cast a ballot.
