Every year, municipal politicians get a chance to meet with MPPs to talk about issues in their communities.

Caledon's mayor and councillors attended the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO)'s annual general meeting and conference in Ottawa from Aug. 14 to 17. This is the first time the annual event was held in person since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We brought forward the most important and pressing issues facing Caledon to our provincial colleagues including our need to direct our own local planning,” said Mayor Allan Thompson. “This forum gave us the opportunity to discuss our needs and priorities with our provincial partners and provide a local lens. We benefit greatly when we share our priorities and work together to advance what is most important to us as a town.”

The Caledon delegation included Coun. Lynn Kiernan, Coun. Johanna Downey, Coun. Christina Early, Coun. Jennifer Innis, Coun. Tony Rosa and chief administrative officer Carey Herd.
