Here's who's running in Newmarket's 2022 municipal election

Six races, three acclamations for Newmarket council, school trustees also contested; in York Region, only Newmarket and King mayors acclaimed

Newmarket voters will go to the polls for six council and two trustee positions in the fall as the town confirmed its final candidate list today for the Oct. 24 election.

Multiple candidates will vie for the position of Newmarket deputy mayor and regional councillor, as well as for council seats in wards 1, 2, 4, 6 and 7. Both the public and Catholic school boards will have trustee races.

Meanwhile, three council members have been acclaimed: Mayor John Taylor, Ward 3 Councillor Jane Twinney and Ward 5 Councillor Bob Kwapis.
