Glen Shields Park is located west of Dufferin Street and north of Steeles Avenue West.

Construction is complete at Glen Shields Park.

The new park features updated facilities and amenities.

The newly revitalized Glen Shields Park was open for exploring at the grand reopening celebration on Thursday, July 28.

The event included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, an on-site interactive DJ and free ice cream. Members of Council and nearly 500 individuals from the Glen Shields community came out to celebrate.

The renovated park includes a newly built playground area, improvements to the existing playground area, a new splash pad, new outdoor fitness equipment and multi-purpose court to play basketball and ball hockey, an improved acrylic--surface tennis court, upgraded accessible walkways with LED lighting and new furnishings (such as seating, bike racks, benches and picnic tables) through the park.
Glen Shields Park is located at 140 Glen Shields Ave., west of Dufferin Street and north of Steeles Avenue West in the heart of the Glen Shields residential neighbourhood. The park is about 4.7 hectares (11.6 acres) and is home to a playground, several pathways, a multi--use play court with basketball, a triple tennis court, and park building.

Part of the project includes a study on the alignment of the Bartley Smith Greenway trail and park walkway improvements for increased pedestrian and bicycle safety and enjoyment (i.e., better visual site lines, lighting, surface condition, wayfinding signage, etc.).

The need for a park redevelopment strategy was identified through community feedback and a 2018 parks redevelopment strategy was created to provide guidance for managing the renewal and redevelopment of multiple city parks and open spaces over a 10--year period (between 2019 and 2029).
