Canada’s Wonderland was evacuated Sunday night after a fire in the water park, according to first responders.
First responders were called to a fire near Wonderland’s water park at about 11 p.m. Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service deputy chief Mike Doyle told The Star that firefighters found a pump house, several trees and a water slide on fire.
York Regional police said they also attended the scene and evacuated the park as “a precaution because of blowing smoke.”
No injuries were reported.
“Overall, I think we were pretty lucky here,” Doyle said.
While the fire broke out the same evening Canada’s Wonderland held a civic holiday fireworks display, Doyle said a fire martial is still investigating the cause of the fire.
Canada’s Wonderland said in a tweet the Splash Works water park will be closed Monday, although the rest of the park remains open to visitors.
Police are asking anyone who may have information on the cause of the fire to call them at 1-866-876-5423 ext. 7441.
