A small structural fire broke out late last night at Canada’s Wonderland.
At approximately 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, York Regional Police were called to assist Vaughan Fire services with a fire at Canada’s Wonderland near the water park.
The small fire spread from the structure to a waterslide and some nearby trees. The park was evacuated due to smoke as a precautionary measure before the fire broke out further.
“As Splash Works had closed at 6 p.m., impacted areas of the park were clear of guests and remaining associates were evacuated,” said Grace Peacock, spokesperson for Canada’s Wonderland in a written statement.
Splash Works will remain closed on Aug. 1 while the rest of the park is open and remains in operation.
Fire is believed to have been started by a firework, police are asking if anyone who knows more details to contact York Region #4 District Criminal Investigation Bureau at 1-866-876-5423 ext. 7441.
