What’s closed at the City of Burlington this Civic Holiday weekend?

The long weekend is upon us, and that means a few closures.

Civic Holiday is Monday, Aug. 1 in 2022 and that results in a few changes around town. Here’s a list of the City of Burlington services and facilities that are closed or reduced.

Animal Services -- The animal shelter at 2424 Industrial St. will be closed to appointments on Monday, Aug. 1. To report an animal control-related emergency, call 905-335-3030 or visit www.burlington.ca/animal.

Burlington Transit -- Transit will operate a Sunday schedule on Aug. 1. For real-time bus information and schedules, visit myride.burlingtontransit.ca. The downtown terminal at 430 John St. and Specialized Dispatch will be closed on Aug. 1.

Service Burlington -- The Service Burlington counter, temporarily located on the third floor at 390 Brant St., south of City Hall, will be closed to all appointments and walk-in service on Monday, Aug. 1.

Halton Court Services/ Provincial Offences Office -- Court administration counter services at 4085 Palladium Way will be closed on Monday, Aug. 1. With the exception of the Civic Holiday closure, telephone payments are available at 905-637-1274, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. All in-person services are available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Many services are also available by email at burlingtoncourt@burlington.ca or online at Halton Court Services.

Parking -- Free parking is available downtown, on the street, in municipal lots and in the parking garage (414 Locust St.) on weekends and holidays, including the Civic holiday. Parking exemptions are required to park overnight on city streets and for longer than five hours.

Roads, Parks and Forestry -- The administrative office will be closed on Monday, Aug. 1. Essential services will be provided as required.

Recreation programs and facilities -- The Nelson Outdoor Pool and Splash Park at 4235 New St. and LaSalle Wading Pool at 50 North Shore Blvd. E. are open for swimming on the Civic Holiday. If you prefer to swim indoors, visit Angela Coughlan Pool at 2425 Upper Middle Rd. Beer Store -- The Beer Stores at 2025 Guelph Line and 5051 New St. will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Aug. 1.
