Stouffville just shy of 50,000 people in latest census data

Just how big is Stouffville? According to the latest information from Statistics Canada, Stouffville grew to a population of 49,864 in 2021. Over a five-year span from 2016, the town grew by 4,027 residents.

The growth rate of 8.8 per cent in Stouffville exceeds both regional and provincial growth rates.

The average age of the town’s population is 40.8 years old, slightly lower than the average age of York Region. The faster-growing age category in town is seniors ages 65+, increasing 22 per cent in the last five years.

The housing mix of the town includes 12,420 single detached homes, 830 semi-detached homes, 1,810-row houses, 450 apartments or flats in a duplex and 945 apartments in buildings that are fewer than five storeys, and 255 apartments in buildings that have more than five storeys.

Every five years, Statistics Canada conducts a national census population.
