The public is invited to help guide the design of a new “gateway” for the City of Richmond Hill at Yonge Street and Garden Avenue.

Richmond Hill is planning to install a lighting feature on the traffic medium on Yonge Street at Garden Avenue, which will serve as a new gateway for the city to welcome people travelling north into the community.

The city has launched a short online survey to collect residents’ input on the future look and feel of the vertical installation, which is expected to signify the entrance to Richmond Hill, as part of York Region’s 2012 South Yonge Street Corridor Streetscape Master Plan.

The first phase of this project, involving the construction of the median and streetscape infrastructure, was completed in fall 2021. The city is currently in the early stages of the next phase, which is to develop design concepts for the lighting feature. There will be more opportunities for public input as the project progresses and before a design is finalized.

Residents can fill out the online survey and be entered into a draw for a chance to win one of five $25 gift cards. The contest ends on July 28, 2022, at 4:30 p.m.
