'Our goal is to create a buzz': Snap your selfie with Newmarket's Love Local sign and you could win a $100 gift card

Chamber of Commerce is handing out $100 weekly prizes until July 31

Hey Newmarket, it’s time to show your love.

The Love Local sign has hit Main Street and the Newmarket Chamber of Commerce is encouraging people to share a photo with it on Instagram and Twitter through its Love Local Selfie Share contest. You may win a $100 gift card.

Use the hashtag #ILoveNewmarket and tag the Newmarket Chamber account and you will be automatically entered in the contest, which runs until July 31.

Currently located outside Cachet Supper Club, the sign is a tangible reminder that local matters, chamber president, Chris Emanuel, said. “Supporting local businesses makes a huge difference to our local economy. When we invest in our community, it thrives,” he said. “Our goal is to create a buzz around all the amazing stores and services that we have to offer in Newmarket. We’re also encouraging participants to tag their favourite local business. It’s a small thing, but these things add up. Let’s all do our best to show our love for local.”

Each week, the chamber will draw a winner’s name from the pool of entries, with the winner taking home a $100 gift card for a local business. There are four prizes in total.

“We’d love to see our feed filled with the sign,” Emanuel said.
