2022 Vaughan municipal election nominations still open

The nomination period for the 2022 municipal election in Vaughan is underway.
The nomination period for potential candidates for Vaughan city council and regional school board trustees began May 2 and runs until Aug. 19. Hopeful candidates are expected to file their nomination forms by Friday, Aug. 12 at 2 p.m.
Civic-minded citizens are encouraged to apply. To file a nomination, candidates must be Canadian citizens, at least 18 years of age, and a resident or property owner in Vaughan. Nominations for Vaughan council or school board trustee can be filed in the Office of the City Clerk at Vaughan City Hall by appointment only. However, appointments are not required on nomination day, Friday Aug. 19, when applicants can just drop-in.
Individuals looking to apply can schedule a nominate appointment at city hall. The nomination fee for potential councillors and trustees is $100, while it costs $200 to run for mayor.
