Live entertainment, fireworks among festivities planned for Canada Day in Aurora

Aurora is planning to celebrate Canada Day in style.

Aurora is inviting residents and visitors to participate in town celebrations during the annual Canada Day events from June 30 to July 2.

Starting celebrations early is the Dance in the Park on June 30 at 7 p.m. at Aurora Town Park. Food vendors, dancing and live entertainment are all planned. The Rotary Club of Aurora will be operating its beer garden as well.

A Canada Day parade will continue festivities July 1 at 10 a.m. The parade has a new route and will travel north on Yonge Street from Murray Drive to Aurora Heights Drive.

Following the parade, there will be a full day of festivities at Lambert Wilson Park, including passport activities for children, live entertainment, inflatables and mini-golf.

Live entertainment throughout the day includes Birds of Prey show, Reaffirmation Ceremony, Durham Street Band, multicultural performers and The Pheromones.

Participants can watch a free performance by Tangent at the Aurora Legion.

The final entertainment feature at Lambert Wilson Park will be Shania Twin, a tribute to Shania Twain.

Lastly, there will be a fireworks display.

Visitors who wear red and white to the Aurora Farmers’ Market on July 2 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. will earn a treat.
