Markham’s Canada Day celebration: Fun-filled day of games, foods, performances, fireworks and more

Wondering what to do on Canada Day in Markham?

Here is a list of family-friendly activities, including games, performances and fireworks taking place in Markham around Canada Day.

Fireworks Performance Canada Day celebration

The event is organized by Dorcas Centre aiming to raise funds to support Ukrainian families newly arriving in Canada. Proceeds from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the event day go to support the Ukrainians.

There will be a lot of outdoor activities, such as performances, children activities, booths, food truck, ice cream truck and more for residents to enjoy. Special guests include Mayor Frank Scarpitti and Coun. Andrew Keyes.

Date and time: June 30

9:15 p.m. Fireworks

Armadale Older Adults Club Canada Day Celebration

Markham Mayor Scarpitti and most of the city Councillors, MPP Billy Pang, MPP Logan Kanapathi, MP Paul Chiang will be attending the event with more than 200 club members. The celebration is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and BBQ lunch will be served.

Date and time: June 30

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Location: Armadale Community Center.

City of Markham Canada Day 2022

This year’s event offers an amazing line up of fun for the whole family, from delicious food trucks to well-known musical entertainment and a dazzling display of fireworks -- there will be something for everyone of all ages to enjoy.

3 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Location: Markham Centre (Birchmount Road/Enterprise Boulevard).

Unionville Canada celebration

Celebrate Canada Day with entertainment by Kindred Spirits Orchestra.

Lineup for the free concert includes Rossini, Overture to The Barber of Seville; Mozart, Symphony No. 40 (1st movement), Beethoven, Symphony No. 7 (2nd movement), Tchaikovsky, Waltz from Swan Lake and more.

Date and time: July 1 at 8 p.m.

Canada Day -- Family Canvas Challenge

Join Varley Art Gallery this Canada Day for a collaborative canvas challenge. In this fun, and educational gallery experience, families get a private tour before heading to the studio to complete a painting inspired by current exhibitions. Work together to bring home an original work of art.

TCCSA Canada Day Celebration

Join TCCSA for a fun-filled day of games, food, performances, lucky draws, kids’ activities and game booths, cake cutting ceremony and free Canada Day souvenirs.

Online participants need to pre-register to participate in lucky draws.
