The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville has raised the Pride flag at town hall for the month of June to recognize Pride month.

The ceremony saw the raising of the Pride Progress flag with Stouffville Mayor Iain Lovatt, council and Lisa Ronco, from the Whitchurch-Stouffville Pride Committee, in attendance. The Progress Pride flag is based on the iconic Pride rainbow flag and celebrates the diversity of the 2SLGBTQ+ community and calls for the creation of a more inclusive society.

“Flying the Progress Pride flag for the first time is a historic moment for our town," Lovatt said. "It will serve as a symbol of inclusion for the incredible breadth of identity within our community."

The flag will be flown at town hall until June 30.
