Georgina is heating up with plenty of summer activities. Rediscover the town with these seven events that kick off in June.
From Georgina Pride Ride and We the Makers Markets to Music in the Streets and Military Day, there’s plenty to do in town.
GEORGINA PRIDE RIDE
June 11, 9 a.m.to 9 p.m.
Parade starts at Keswick High School and travels throughout town.
The Georgina Pride Ride kicks off with a Pride garage sale 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 73 Biscayne Blvd. Parade decorating starts at noon and the parade kicks off at 3 p.m. York Regional Police are hosting a Pride Ride barbecue 6 to 9 p.m. at The ROC.
SUMMER SATURDAYS
Saturdays starting June 18 to Oct. 1.
ClearWater Farm, 1614 Metro Rd. N.;
Family fun events include a local artisan market, art and nature activities, workshops, outdoor yoga classes, live music and self-guided tours.
Be sure to visit the farm stand for fresh produce.
MILITARY DAY
June 18, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Georgina Military Museum, 26061 Woodbine Ave., Keswick.
$10 donation entry.
Check out the buildings filled with displays, military equipment, artifacts and restored Second World War trucks. Military re-enactments from the War of 1812 to the Second World War taking place throughout the day.
WE THE MAKERS MARKET
June 25, July 9, Aug. 7 and Sept. 11, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Oct. 16, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Nov. 12, 1 to 6 p.m.
Lakeview House Golf Course, 2051 Metro Rd., Jacksons Point.
The curated outdoor market features about two dozen different local crafters, artisans and specialty food vendors each month. There are also photo booths, swag bags and prizes for shoppers.
MUSIC IN THE STREETS
June 25, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Queensway South and Simcoe Avenue area in Keswick.
Roads closures: The Queensway between Cedar and Church streets; and Simcoe Avenue between The Queensway and the west entrance of the Simcoe Plaza.
Georgina’s musical talent will be on full display during the return of the annual Music in the Streets festival, featuring about a dozen stage areas and performances by music students, instructors and musicians from across the community.
BUTTERFLYWAY CANOE PROJECT
Planting day: June 21, 10 a.m. to noon; opening day: June 26, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.;
The Link, 20849 Dalton Rd., Sutton.
Learn more how to attract butterflies and other pollinators to your garden by planting native plants. Help plant a permanent native plant garden in a canoe. There will be crafts and other activities opening day.
Visit the garden and learn more about native plants Sundays in July, 10 a.m. to noon.
YOGA IN THE PARK
Saturdays June 11 to Sept. 10, 9 to 10.m.
Jackson’s Point Parkette, 21093 Dalton Rd., Jacksons Point.
Yoga in the Park is back, hosted by the Jackson’s Point BIA and the Health Hut. Bring a yoga mat, towel and water bottle. The free class is geared toward all ability levels.
