Vaughan, Mayor Bevilacqua will not re-nominate

The outgoing mayor of Vaughan, Maurizio Bevilacqua, will not be re-nominated in the next municipal elections on 24 October.

This was announced by Bevilacqua himself, during a gala evening held tonight in Vaughan, during which the mayor also celebrated his birthday.

"The city is in excellent shape," Bevilacqua told those who asked him the reason for his decision not to re-run.
