You can celebrate the official launch of Vaughan’s new creative district, known as Assembly Park, at a block party this weekend.

On May 28 and 29, organizers are inviting the community to a free weekend of festivities at 80 Interchange Way.

Located in the South Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, Assembly Park is becoming a “dynamic” mixed-use community offering diverse and modern housing, retail, state-of-the-art offices, lush parks and new schools, according to a statement.

Assembly Park is minutes away from Vaughan’s newest TTC subway stop and the Viva Rapid Transit system.

The block party will include food truck eats and a beer garden.

Residents can take a stroll through the Artisans’ Marketplace and flower market, join in on art, planting and fitness sessions and explore the grounds to hear diverse live musicians.

You can also check out short films being screened under the stars, hosted by the Vaughan International Film Festival.

The block party runs May 28 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and May 29 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
