Georgina is getting summer-ready

The May long weekend is the unofficial start to summer. And the town is kicking it into high gear, getting ready for the 2022 summer season.

Georgina has a number of outdoor recreation spaces, from parks and beaches, to sports fields and splash pads that are in the process of getting summer-ready.

Courts, diamonds and sports fields are maintained mid-May to mid-October, weather permitting.

Splash pads open, weather permitting, June 1 to the end of Labour Day long weekend.

All other amenities, such as parks, trails, playgrounds, town boat launches and dog park, are open.

There are a number of accessible features in town including: the Mobi-Mat and Mobi-Chair at De La Salle Beach, a wheelchair swing at The ROC and an accessible playground at Julia Munro Park. For more information, visit georgina.ca/inclusion.

Residents are reminded barbecues and outdoor cooking devices are not permitted in town parks or on the beaches.

Residents are required to display a valid 2022 parking pass to park in beach parking lots. Parking passes are available online at georgina.ca/parkingpass.

Applications for agricultural and open-air burn permits are also available online at georgina.ca/burnpermit. The annual permit fee is $35. Residents are permitted to have recreational fires without a permit.
