Vying for a chance to witness a car crash rescue? Or sit in a real-life fire truck?

Markham fire and rescue is doing another meet and greet with the community on June 4 when auto recycler Standard Auto Wreckers hosts the event in Scarborough at their all-you-can-carry sale.

Firefighters will also perform a simulated car accident rescue, which people can watch up close.

The Markham fire department conducts weekly training on-site at Standard Auto Wreckers and has done so for years.

The firefighters will be on-site at 1216 Sewells Rd., Scarborough, at 8 a.m., on Saturday, June 4. A fire truck and a team will be on hand to meet and greet and do some auto extraction demonstrations for those who are interested in seeing what first responders do.

Standard Auto Wreckers owner David Gold said they are doing this to give back to the community.
