Work continues to reopen regional roads closed due to storm damage

The cleanup from Saturday's storm is continuing, primarily in neighbourhoods in the south end of the region, as work crews restore power and clear debris.

York Region continues to restore access to impacted roadways.

As a result of detouring routes from closed intersections, it has adjusted the timing of several traffic signals to assist in moving heavier traffic volumes on some sections of regional roads, said Director of Roads and Traffic Operations, Joseph Petrungaro.

Updates on when roads are safe to travel and reopened will be available on the region's Twitter account @YorkRegionGovt.

The list of closures updated as of 6:30 p.m. May 24 includes the following:

Weston Road from Langstaff Road to Royteck Road -- full closure

Bathurst Street from Centre Street to Atkins Drive -- now open

Leslie Street from Bloomington Road to Vandorf Sideroad -- full closure

Leslie Street at Via Renzo -- lane closure

Wellington Street from Bayview Avenue to Industrial Parkway -- full closure

Kennedy Road from Aurora Road and 9th Line -- now open

McCowan Road from Stouffville Road to Bloomington Road -- full closure
