The heavy wind and rain on May 21 led to extensive storm damage -- and a big cleanup in Richmond Hill as city crews work to make restorations and repairs.

Here’s what to expect:

The priority is clearing fallen trees and debris from roads, sidewalks and blocked driveways. Crews will then move on to clearing trees and debris from boulevards, parks and trails.

If you see downed power lines or broken equipment, stay back at least 30 feet and call 911.

Steer clear of damaged or fallen trees. If they’re on public property, you can report them via Richmond Hill’s online customer service portal.

Trees on private property are the responsibility of the property owner. You may want to consult an arborist.

If you have tree debris on your property, visit RichmondHill.ca/YardWaste for collection guidelines and schedule, as well as yard waste depot information. .

Power has been restored at the McConaghy Centre and the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts.

The splash pads at Lake Wilcox Park and Rouge Crest Park remain closed due to power outages. For splash pad updates, visit RichmondHill.ca/SplashPads.
