UPDATED: Watch for road closures in York Region

Violent storm on May 21 has left many looking for detour routes

Be prepared for road closures and detours if you're driving around York Region today.

The cleanup from Saturday's storm is continuing, primarily in neighbourhoods in the south end of the region, as work crews restore power and clear debris.

Here's the most recent list of road closures in the region where work is underway, from York Regional Police and the Region of York, as of 6 p.m. on May 23:

• Weston Road from Langstaff Road to Royteck Road in Vaughan (full closure);
• Bathurst Street from Centre Street to Atkins drive (full closure);
• Leslie Street at Via Renzo Drive in Richmond Hill (lane closure);
• Wellington Street from Bayview Avenue to Industrial Parkway North in Aurora (full closure);
• Kennedy Road from Aurora Road and 9th Line in Whitchurch-Stouffville (full closure).

 

Other municipal road closures may be possible in the hardest hit areas and local hiking trail systems have also suffered damage, so caution is advised.
